Fume cupboards

Type testing

The fume cupboards will be installed in the I.F.I. test room and connected to the electrical system by the customer. After the connection to the controlled exhaust system of the test room and installation of the test equipment the test of the test sash openings at a given nominal volume flow according to EN 14175 will be started.

A complete type testing comprises the following tests:

• Face velocities according to EN 14175-3, 5.2
• Containment of the inner measurement plane according to EN 14175-3, 5.3
• Containment of outer measurement plane according to EN 14175-3, 5.3
• Robustness of the containment according to EN 14175-3, 2003, 5.4
• Air exchange efficiency according to EN 14175-3, 2003, 5.5
• Pressure drop according to EN 14175-3, 2003, 5.6
• Sash suspension according to EN 14175-3, 2003, 6.1
• Sash forces of the sash according to EN 14175-3, 2003 6.2
• Protection against splashes according to EN 14175-3, 2003, 6.3
• Sash limiter according to EN 14175-3, 2003, 6.4
• Indicator function according to EN 14175-3, 2003, 7
• Illumination according to EN 14175-3, 2003, 9

Ventilation tests

After the connection to the controlled exhaust system of the test room the following tests of the test sash openings at a given nominal volume flow according to EN 14175 will be executed, e. g.:

• Robustness of the containment according to EN 14175-3, 2003, 5.4
• Air exchange efficiency according to EN 14175-3, 2003, 5.5
• Pressure drop according to EN 14175-3, 2003, 5.6

The required limit values of the professional association of the chemical industry, technical committee chemistry, dated July 29, 2003, will be taken as evaluation criteria for ventilation tests. The compliance with these limit values will be certified.
